Richard Berenson, Chief Executive Officer, has been building orgainizations for twenty-five years; he has been CEO of COO of eleven companies and the CFO/Treasurer of several more. As Managing Director of Venzyme Catalyst, LLC, he has successfully launched and financed many life science organizations around important new technologies in complex markets. Rick received a JD-MBA from Harvard Law and Business Schools in 1984 and is a graduate of Harvard College.
Michael Weiss, M.D., Ph.D., Founder & CSO. Professor and Chairman of Biochemistry at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Mike has more than 150 publications, including three within the course of a single year on his insulin analogs, which were named Paper of the Week by the Journal of Biological Chemistry. Mike is chair of the NIDDK's Board of Scientific Councilors. Mike earned his A.B., summa cum laude in Physics in 1978, his M.D., summa cum laude, in 1985, and a Ph.D. in Biophysics in 1986, all from Harvard University.
Bruce Frank, Ph.D., Vice President of Development. Bruce was co-inventor of Humalog and is a 34-year veteran of Eli Lilly where he held several senior management positions in the insulin development group. He has deep expertise in insulin discovery, development, manufacturing, and regulatory pathways. He received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University in Physical Biochemistry and did his post-doc at University of California at Berkeley.
